Where does the leather for our leather clothing come from?

Leather is of animal origin and is chemically preserved through a special treatment called tanning. This makes the leather supple, durable, and extremely versatile. For the most part, hides from cattle, calves, goats, sheep, and pigs are used; they are a byproduct of the food industry. Depending on the animal the leather comes from, it has different properties that make it particularly suitable for certain types of clothing. Different types of leather and their characteristics

Not all leather clothing is the same. At JANICE, we work with carefully selected leathers, each with its own unique properties. That way, you know exactly what you’re wearing.

Nappa leather

Exceptionally soft, supple, and smooth, primarily sourced from calves, lambs, or sheep. Nappa leather has the added benefit of being more resistant to moisture and dirt than other leathers, making it ideal for everyday use.

Cowhide

The hide of adult cattle is thicker and tougher than that of young animals. This makes cowhide suitable for sturdy, durable items such as shoes and bags that last for years.

Goatskin

Goatskin is super soft with a subtle, unique grain. Goatskin is particularly suitable for the production of leather clothing and accessories and gives each piece a refined, luxurious look.

Suede

Suede is leather with a soft, napped surface, created by sanding the fibers of the top layers. The result is a material that feels soft, looks luxurious, and instantly adds a warm, elegant touch to any outfit.

Stretch leather

Much of our leather clothing is made from stretch leather. In this process, the hides are stretched and spandex is bonded to the leather, allowing it to move with your body without stretching out. Comfort and style in one.
